Zenith Oilfield Technology to put automated well management in the spotlight at ADIPEC

Tuesday, Nov 06, 2012

Artificial lift specialists Zenith Oilfield Technology will deliver a technical presentation at the Middle East’s largest oil and gas exhibition and conference later this month.

The company’s groundbreaking technology will be showcased at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) which will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from Sunday, November 11 until Wednesday, November 14.

Julian Cudmore, new technology manager for the Aberdeenshire-headquartered company, will present a paper on the company’s Z-Sight technology entitled: ‘Using real time automated optimisation and diagnosis to manage an artificially lifted reservoir,’ which will discuss three case studies where installation of the technology lead to improved production from the reservoir.

The paper will be presented during Paper Session Four – ‘Application of Surveillance Data for Reservoir Management’ – on Sunday, November 11 at 10.30am at the venue’s Capital Suite 7.

Mr Cudmore said: “The management and optimisation of artificially lifted wells is becoming increasingly more important for operators. Zenith’s innovative Z-Sight technology enables a field of wells to be efficiently managed by providing automated well test data for production surveillance, optimum operational set points to enhance production and real time protection to reduce expensive well interventions. It has already demonstrated several successes in the Middle East and South America resulting in increased oil production and profits.

“The technical presentation was originally scheduled to be a poster session so this is a great opportunity to showcase our technology’s well management capabilities to a captive industry audience.”

The award winning Z-Sight technology gathers data from the wells’ instruments and performs automatic data analysis in real time. It then compares the data to a bespoke real time software model of the well to enable automation of the time consuming procedures typically used in the industry.

Operators can log in to the Z-Sight system from any location to manage the field of wells. Each well is presented on a field-wide status map showing live well-by-well status. This simplifies field management to improve efficiency, whilst a remote control function enables optimisation of the field operation through remote adjustment of the pumping systems lifting the oil.

Zenith Oilfield Technology, a Lufkin company, operates in the artificial lift sector of the global oil and gas industry. Established in 2004 Zenith now employs 90 staff operating out of more than 30 countries.

The company designs, develops, assembles and supports pioneering industry leading technologies to enable optimum recovery from customer wells through the gathering and analysis of downhole data. Zenith also specialises in the design of innovative well completion equipment to reduce operator downtime and intervention costs.
